2027 Cruises From Baltimore: Carnival Pride, Carnival Miracle & Royal Caribbean

If you're thinking about a cruise in 2027 and Baltimore is within driving distance, this is actually a pretty interesting year to look at.

Carnival Pride is continuing its year-round Baltimore schedule. Royal Caribbean still has Vision of the Seas sailing from the port. And beginning in November 2027, Carnival Miracle joins Pride — giving Carnival two ships homeported in Baltimore for the first time.

That means “cruises from Baltimore” is no longer one ship doing basically the same thing all year.

There are short-ish Bermuda options, weeklong Bahamas sailings, longer Caribbean trips and some genuinely interesting longer Carnival Journeys itineraries.

And for families who live within driving distance, the comparison gets even more interesting once airfare disappears from the equation.

The biggest Baltimore cruise change for 2027

Carnival Miracle is the headline.

Carnival announced that Miracle will arrive in Baltimore on November 20, 2027, joining Carnival Pride for the 2027/28 season.

It will be the first time Carnival has homeported two ships in Baltimore.

That matters because the second ship isn't just adding more departure dates. It expands the itinerary mix.

Carnival says Miracle will offer seven-, eight- and nine-day Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean sailings, along with longer 12- and 14-day Carnival Journeys cruises reaching destinations such as Dominica, Guadeloupe and St. Maarten.

So if you've always thought of Baltimore cruising as “Pride to the Bahamas,” late 2027 starts to look quite a bit different.

Carnival Pride is still the Baltimore workhorse

Pride isn't going anywhere.

Carnival has confirmed that Pride will continue sailing year-round from Baltimore with seven-day Bahamas cruises, seven-day Bermuda itineraries and longer Carnival Journeys sailings.

Those longer itineraries can reach much farther into the Caribbean, including destinations such as Aruba, Curaçao, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Antigua, Tortola and Martinique depending on the sailing.

I like having that range because “I want to cruise from Baltimore” can mean very different things.

Someone might want a simple seven-night family vacation.

Someone else might be perfectly happy using more vacation days if it means sailing deeper into the Caribbean without flying to Florida.

Those are completely different searches even though they start at the same terminal.

Royal Caribbean is still part of the Baltimore conversation

Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas also has 2027 Baltimore sailings available.

Examples already on the calendar include five-night Bermuda cruises and nine-night itineraries combining Bermuda with Bahamas stops such as Nassau and Bimini.

Vision is important to understand before booking, though.

If your mental picture of Royal Caribbean is Icon, Star or one of the gigantic Oasis-class ships, Vision is not that.

It's a much smaller, older Royal Caribbean ship.

That doesn't make it a bad vacation.

For somebody who wants Bermuda, likes a more manageable ship or values being able to drive to the port more than having the newest waterpark at sea, it can make perfect sense.

But I would rather set that expectation before someone books than let the Royal Caribbean logo do it for them.

The Royal Caribbean guide is the better place to sort ship class before you fall in love with a sailing because of the funnel.

Bermuda, Bahamas or a longer Caribbean cruise?

This is where I'd stop comparing ships for a minute and ask what you actually want the week to feel like.

Bermuda is different from a traditional island-hopping cruise because itineraries can give you extended time around one destination.

Bahamas itineraries feel more like the familiar cruise rhythm: sea days mixed with different port days.

The longer Carnival Journeys options are a different vacation again. You're using more vacation time, but you're also reaching places that most people do not associate with a Baltimore departure.

There isn't a universally better option.

The useful question is whether your family wants the destination, the ship or simply the easiest possible way to get onto a cruise.

Baltimore's biggest advantage still has nothing to do with the ship

For a huge part of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Washington DC and Northern Virginia, Baltimore can remove an entire layer of cruise logistics.

No flights.

No checked-bag fees.

No airport transfers.

And in many cases, no pre-cruise hotel.

That does not automatically make a Baltimore cruise cheaper.

A Florida sailing can sometimes have a much better cruise fare or a ship your family would enjoy substantially more.

But I never want to compare cruise fare against cruise fare and pretend the rest of the trip doesn't exist.

If one option requires five airline tickets, a hotel, airport transportation and another full travel day, those things belong in the comparison too.

Families of five need to look at cabins differently

This is one of the things I pay attention to immediately because we're a family of five too.

A cruise can have plenty of cabins available and still have very few cabins available that work for your actual family.

Sometimes one room works.

Sometimes connecting rooms are better.

Sometimes two cabins close together make more sense financially and practically.

Once you need a specific room arrangement, the advertised “starting at” fare becomes considerably less useful.

That's also why fixed school-break weeks are one of the situations where I'd rather start comparing early. The ship does not have to sell out for your preferred cabin setup to disappear.

If the trip is really about the kids having a good week at sea, the family cruises page is the other half of this conversation.

When I would NOT choose Baltimore

Convenience is important.

It is not everything.

If your teenagers are choosing the vacation because they want the newest Royal Caribbean mega-ship, Baltimore probably isn't the answer.

If a specific Florida departure gets your family onto a dramatically better-fit ship, I would price the flights and compare it honestly.

And if the itinerary you actually care about doesn't sail from Baltimore during your dates, I wouldn't force the port simply because it's close.

Sometimes the drive-to option wins easily.

Sometimes paying to get to another port produces the vacation everybody actually wanted.

That's why I would choose the trip first and then decide how much convenience is worth.

What I would compare before booking a 2027 Baltimore cruise

• exact travel dates and school/work constraints
• total transportation cost, not just cruise fare
• cabin configuration for the actual number of travelers
• how important the ship itself is
• itinerary and port time
• trip length
• onboard activities that your family will actually use

A family that wants an easy week away can land on a completely different answer from a family with two teenagers who want nonstop activities.

Both can be right.

So, is 2027 a good year to cruise from Baltimore?

If you live within driving distance, it's definitely a year I would include Baltimore in the comparison.

Pride gives the port its familiar year-round Carnival option.

Vision keeps Bermuda and Royal Caribbean in the mix.

And Miracle arriving in November adds both capacity and a wider selection of longer itineraries.

The important part is not treating “Baltimore cruise” as the decision.

It's the starting point.

The actual decision is which sailing gives your people the right combination of dates, ship, cabin, destination and total trip cost.
