Disney World in 2027: What's New, What's Confirmed & What Families Should Plan Now

Disney dropped enough 2027 planning information this month that it's finally possible to talk about next year without filling half the article with rumors.

There are new places coming, a brand-new resort opening, spring discounts already available, 2027 After Hours dates on the calendar and several newer experiences that families who haven't visited recently may not have seen at all.

But there is also a lot that Disney has NOT given an exact opening date for yet.

And that distinction matters if you're about to spend thousands of dollars planning a vacation around something new.

So instead of just listing every announcement, here's what I think families actually need to know before booking Walt Disney World in 2027.

Monstropolis is one of the biggest 2027 changes — but don't assume every piece opens at once

Disney has confirmed that guests will be able to enter parts of Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios in 2027.

The plans include a theater show with Mike and Sulley, locations inspired by the films such as Harryhausen's, Archie's Scare Pig Pizza and an original Randy Newman song created for the land.

The extremely important planning detail is this:

Disney has said work will continue on the door coaster while parts of Monstropolis open.

In other words, “Monstropolis opens in 2027” does NOT currently mean Disney has announced one date when every announced element will suddenly be available.

That is exactly the kind of distinction I'd want to know before booking a specific week solely because your family is obsessed with Monsters, Inc.

If Monstropolis is a major reason for your trip, I would keep your dates flexible until Disney gets more specific.

If Hollywood Studios is already a must on your week, the park guide is the better place to talk touring pressure — Monstropolis is one more reason that park rewards a plan.

Disney's Lakeshore Lodge opens July 1, 2027

This is the Disney addition I'd pay particularly close attention to if the RESORT is a big part of your vacation.

Disney's Lakeshore Lodge is scheduled to open July 1, 2027 on Bay Lake.

Disney says the resort will have 967 rooms and several accommodation styles, including studios, villas and new one- and two-bedroom waterfront Lake Houses.

Some rooms will have views toward Magic Kingdom fireworks, and the resort is being designed around a nature-inspired theme.

The booking dates are especially relevant right now:

• Disney Vacation Club members: October 6, 2026
• Walt Disney World Annual Passholders: October 7, 2026
• All guests: October 8, 2026

If Lakeshore Lodge is the reason your family is interested in a summer 2027 trip, this is one of those situations where I would rather know your dates, group size and room priorities before reservations open instead of figuring it all out afterward.

The Disney resort guide is still the right place to think through Value vs Moderate vs Deluxe before you lock a brand-new hotel into the week.

And if you're still deciding how far ahead to get organized, when to plan Disney is the calmer version of this conversation.

Disney already released spring 2027 offers

This is probably the most useful current information for somebody who already knows they're going.

Disney currently has an offer saving up to $250 per night on select four-night, four-day or longer room-and-ticket packages for eligible stays from January 3 through July 28, 2027.

There is also a separate room offer advertising savings of up to 25% on select Disney Resort rooms for qualifying stays from January 3 through April 29.

The phrase “up to” matters.

The largest discount is not available at every resort, every room category or every date.

That's why I wouldn't choose the vacation based on the giant savings number in the headline.

I'd compare what the entire package costs for your actual family.

A $250-per-night maximum discount sounds amazing.

It means very little if the resort carrying that discount is still dramatically more expensive than the one your family would have been perfectly happy staying at.

If you are still choosing between parks, a cruise, Universal, or a quieter week, start with Disney vacation planning instead of starting with the sale.

2027 Disney After Hours dates are already on the calendar

Disney has also released 2027 After Hours schedules for Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.

Magic Kingdom events run on select nights from January into July.

Hollywood Studios dates extend into August.

EPCOT After Hours also has select dates through August.

Guests at certain eligible Disney-area resorts were able to begin buying tickets September 10, while general public sales begin September 22, 2026.

I like After Hours for the right traveler.

Lower waits and extra nighttime park time can be fantastic.

But I would not automatically add an extra-ticket event to an already expensive vacation just because it exists.

The better question is what your family is trying to accomplish with those hours.

If the kids are done by 9 p.m. every night, paying for a late-night event probably isn't some secret Disney-planning hack.

If your family comes alive after dark and wants to hit major attractions with lower waits, that's a very different conversation.

Spring 2027 also has firm EPCOT festival dates

Disney has already announced:

• EPCOT International Festival of the Arts: January 15 through March 1, 2027
• EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival: March 10 through May 31, 2027

I like knowing those dates this early because a festival can genuinely change which park days someone wants.

Food booths, concerts, gardens and festival activities can turn EPCOT from “we'll probably go one day” into one of the reasons someone picks a particular week.

Some of the “new” things 2027 visitors will see are already opening now

This is where Disney marketing dates can get confusing.

Bluey's Wild World at Conservation Station is NOT a 2027 opening.

It debuted May 26, 2026 at Animal Kingdom.

Families can take the Wildlife Express Train to Conservation Station, play games with Bluey and Bingo and visit Jumping Junction to see animals native to Australia.

So why include it in a 2027 guide?

Because a family whose last Disney trip was in 2024 or 2025 may have no idea it's there.

That's the way I would think about “what's new in 2027” generally.

Not everything you haven't experienced will have opened that exact year.

If Animal Kingdom is already on your list, treat Bluey's Wild World as part of that day — not as a 2027 headline you have to chase.

The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios opened September 14, 2026.

For families visiting in 2027 who haven't been recently, that reimagined Animation Courtyard is another genuinely new-to-you experience, with animation-themed interactive activities, drawing opportunities and character experiences.

What I would actually book now — and what I would wait on

Planning early and planning everything are not the same thing.

You can lock down the parts that matter without deciding where everybody is eating lunch eight months from now.

That's usually the balance I prefer.

So should you book Disney World for 2027 now?

If you're traveling during spring break, summer vacation or another fixed school-break window, I would absolutely start looking.

If Lakeshore Lodge is a priority, I'd get organized before its booking window opens.

If Monstropolis is the entire reason for your trip, I would be more cautious until Disney gives us more specific timing.

And if you're still deciding between Disney, Universal, a cruise or something completely different?

Don't let an offer make the decision for you.

The sale should help pay for the vacation you actually want.

It shouldn't choose the vacation.
