Document checks to do early
Citizenship
Document requirements depend on citizenship and itinerary. Do not borrow advice written for a different traveler.
Names
Booking names and travel documents need to match the supplier and government requirements. Fixing a mismatch at the terminal is not a planning strategy.
Children
Minors can have additional documentation considerations depending on citizenship, guardianship, and itinerary. Use official sources and the cruise line’s current requirements.
Expiration and validity
Passport validity rules can vary by destination. Check early enough that renewal is still a normal task instead of an emergency.
Cruise document check
Match traveler to itinerary
Citizenship, embarkation port, return port, and every country on the route can matter.
Check government sources
Use the current passport and entry guidance for the traveler, not a Facebook comment about someone else’s cruise.
Check the cruise line
The line’s current boarding-document list should match the actual sailing and passenger profile.
Fix names and validity early
Renewals, legal-name mismatches, damaged documents, or missing child documents are all easier months before sailing.
